The Audio-on-Demand (AOD) landscape is undergoing radical change. Public service media (PSM) strive to adapt to new consumption habits and audiences’ expectations. To keep up, at least 5 PSM AOD platforms are relaunching or revamping in 2021.
Our new report – PSM Audio On-Demand Landscape – details PSM’s renewed content strategies. PSM on-demand audio platforms continue to rely on catch-up. Nevertheless, podcasts are increasingly essential, with 82% of Members having online-only podcast content on their platform.
Distribution strategies for content are also under review. 85% of Members offer content on Apple Podcasts, with Spotify catching up quickly – although very few consider those platforms to be strategic.
